FAQ.

  • CBCT Surgical Navigation – what is the difference between Dynamic Surgical Navigation and Static Guides?
CBCT-based static guides use a physical guide that is intended to guide the movement of the drill via metal “sleeves” incorporated into the stent, restricting the movement of the drill during the implant surgery. In comparison, Dynamic Surgical Navigation displays the drill position in relation to the patient CT scan in real time during surgery, enabling accurate free-hand guided surgery. In Dynamic Surgical Navigation, both the planning time required and soft-tissue management techniques are similar to conventional free-hand surgery planned with CBCT data today. Since you don’t have to rely on the manufacturing process associated with a static guide, you can scan, plan and complete surgery in as little as one appointment.
  • What are the benefits of using Inliant?
The Inliant system displays the drill position over the patient’s CT scan during surgery – providing sub-millimeter accuracy while preserving all the benefits of free-hand surgery. Unlike any other Dynamic Surgical Navigation system, Inliant does not require handpiece attachments, so you can continue to enjoy the ergonomics and tactile feedback you’re used to. There are no restrictions to irrigation or soft tissue management and the long-term success of implant-supported restorations is enhanced.
  • Can I still operate free-hand with the Inliant system?
Yes, the Inliant system enables accurate free-hand surgery. There is no restrictive static guide and nothing is attached to the handpiece, so the ergonomics and tactile feedback of free-hand surgery are completely preserved.
  • Does using Inliant limit or change my soft-tissue management techniques?
No. Inliant allows the clinician to utilize any flap design and use the same soft-tissue management techniques as in free-hand surgery.
  • Does anything need to be attached to the handpiece with the Inliant system?
No. We feel strongly that handpiece ergonomics and tactile feedback must not be compromised. Because of this, Inliant was designed so nothing is attached to the handpiece. The patented Inliant markers are laser-etched directly onto the familiar handpiece during manufacturing leaving both ergonomics and tactile feedback unchanged.
  • Does Inliant require any in-process calibrations?
No. One of our key goals is to NOT interrupt the surgery and to NOT add chair-time. We designed Inliant to be calibration free. There is no calibration required when using Inliant.
  • How long will the setup take? Will it require renovating my operatory?
The Inliant System is cart-based with no renovation to the operatory required. Setup is quick and is followed by training. Navigate Surgical Technologies will coordinate the site assessment with no interruption to your clinic’s schedule.
  • Does Inliant require changes to my surgical protocol?
No. With Inliant, you may use your preferred brand of implant, and follow whichever drilling sequence is required for optimal implant placement.
  • Is Inliant compatible with my preferred brand of dental implants?
Absolutely! During the planning phase, you enter the implant platform, length and design of your preferred dental implant. During surgery planning, a generic outline of an implant is superimposed onto the CBCT scan in the Inliant system, allowing you to move the implant to the desired surgical location.
  • Will using Inliant add to the surgery planning time?
Planning time with Inliant is comparable to planning a conventional free-hand surgery with CBCT.
  • How will Inliant impact chair-time for the procedure?
We expect Inliant to reduce chair-time, since the system enables clinicians to see the drill position in real-time during surgery. No calibration is required with our patented motion tracking technology. Surgery is truly uninterrupted, without common delays such as those due to calibrations and interim radiographs.
  • What type of warranty does Inliant provide?
Every purchase of an Inliant system includes setup, training and a comprehensive one-year warranty covering all software licenses and updates.
